The study, “Optimization of Acoustic Performance of Double-Layer Absorbers Based on Cellular Foams,” was conducted by DASM’s research team, led by Dr. Vu Viet Dung and his collaborator Dr. Trinh Van Hai. This research focuses on optimizing the sound absorption coefficient of double-layer acoustic absorbers using open-cell foam materials. The results demonstrate that it is possible to control the microstructural parameters of the internal foam layers to achieve the desired sound absorption performance in low and mid-frequency ranges.

The presentation by the representative of the research team received significant attention from conference attendees, sparking lively discussions. The scientific significance and practical value of the study were highly regarded. The paper provides a valuable foundation for exchanging deep insights into the latest trends in material design for real-world applications, particularly in the aviation sector. It contributes to improving acoustic environments and noise control to enhance comfort and convenience. Additionally, it supports the development of maintenance and repair capabilities while offering a potential solution to various challenges faced by the aviation industry.

ISATECH 2023 is an international and multidisciplinary conference aimed at addressing pressing technical issues in the aerospace field, including aircraft design and optimization, aerospace propulsion systems, flight guidance and control, advanced manufacturing, MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), air transport operations, artificial intelligence applications in aerospace, clean energy and emissions reduction, aerospace law, and aircraft electrification, among others.

In reality, aviation is one of the fastest-growing industries globally due to exciting interdisciplinary advancements emerging daily in aerospace engineering and energy. It is also one of the most expensive industries, requiring high reliability and rigorous, long-term maintenance procedures. These demands continually call for innovative solutions and diverse research topics. Among the more than 50 topics discussed at this year’s conference, several were related to acoustics and advanced materials, including:

  • Acoustics, vibration, and noise
  • Composite and ceramic materials
  • Conventional and advanced materials and structures
  • Material and structural failure
  • Time-dependent material degradation

Through ISATECH 2023, the knowledge, insights, and experiences gained by DASM’s team of experts serve as a foundation for the Institute for Development & Application of Acoustic Materials to shape future strategic investments and development directions. The event also reaffirms the Institute’s position as one of the leading scientific organizations in Vietnam specializing in acoustics, acoustic materials, and acoustic consulting.
