In early July, the Acoustic Laboratory of the Institute Of Development And Application For Sound Materials (DASM) was officially certified by the Bureau of Accreditation Vietnam (BoA) as a VILAS-standard laboratory. Notably, as of now, the DASM Acoustic Laboratory is the first and only acoustic laboratory in Vietnam to receive VILAS certification.
What is VILAS Certification?
VILAS, short for Vietnam Laboratory Accreditation Scheme, is a recognition system for testing and calibration laboratories in Vietnam, in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standards.
Laboratory accreditation activities in Vietnam are carried out by the Bureau of Accreditation Vietnam (BoA), which ensures compliance with VILAS standards.
The BoA is a member of the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) of regional and international accreditation organizations such as APLAC, ILAC, and PAC. It is responsible for managing, auditing, and removing laboratories from the VILAS accreditation list if they fail to meet the required standards.
VILAS certification confirms that a laboratory meets international standards for technical competence and quality management.
The DASM Acoustic Laboratory is the first and only acoustic laboratory in Vietnam to receive VILAS accreditation.
The Institute Of Development And Application For Sound Materials was established in 2021 by the Ministry of Science and Technology, with funding from Remak. Under the leadership of top experts in acoustics and materials such as Dr. Vu Viet Dung, Associate Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Trung, Dr. Le Van Hung, Prof. Dr. Raymond Panneton, and Dr. Jullien Biboud, DASM has become one of the leading scientific institutions in acoustic consulting in Vietnam.
The VILAS certification of Institute Of Development And Application For Sound Materials’ acoustic laboratory further reinforces its leading position in acoustic research and testing in Vietnam. Currently, no other acoustic laboratory in the country has received this certification.
