Sound Absorption Testing of the Concrete Wood CRW-TA 01 Wall-Mounted Acoustic Panel

Project Details

Sector
Acoustic Materials
Year completed
2023

In September 2023, the Institute for Development and Application of Acoustic Materials (DASM) carried out sound absorption testing (ASTM C423-17, EN ISO 11654:1997) on the Concrete Wood CRW-TA 01 wall-mounted acoustic panel distributed by Huệ Sáng Trading – Investment Co., Ltd.

Company and product overview

Huệ Sáng Co. Ltd (Phuoc Long B Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) is a distributor of engineered wood products imported directly from Thailand and CNC-machined in Vietnam into finished products for interior and exterior applications such as doors, door frame trims, fence slats, pool deck boards, trellis slats, cladding battens, etc.

The Concrete Wood CRW-TA 01 wall-mounted acoustic panel is presented as a versatile product that is easy to install without nails or screws, highly aesthetic and low in installation cost, suitable for both modern and classic homes.

In fact, Concrete Wood is wood-look concrete / wood-cement – a type of fiber cement material developed as a wood substitute. Each wood-look cement concrete wall acoustic panel module consists of one flat panel measuring 0.6 x 2.4 m with grooves and 5 vertical battens mounted into the pre-cut grooves of each panel.

The sound absorption test of Concrete Wood CRW-TA 01 was carried out in the Reverberation Room of the Institute for Development and Application of Acoustic Materials using the following methods:

  • ASTM C423-17, Standard test method for sound absorption and sound absorption coefficients by the reverberation room method
  • EN ISO 11654:1997. Acoustics — Sound absorbers for use in buildings — Rating of sound absorption
